Wellness Classes: Fall 2017
Mindful Mamas Support Circle
Fall Session: September 7-October 26; Thursdays, 9:30-11:30 AM (8 weeks)
Are you looking to be more present for yourself and your new baby, to find a place of calm right in the midst of the chaos? Psychotherapist Katy Cribbs facilitates a four-week support circle for new moms to help navigate this time of transitions. Together, we hold a safe and non-judgmental space for you to bring your whole self, a space for sharing the joys and struggles of new parenthood. First time and veteran moms are welcome. We will explore practical issues such as feeding and sleeping, as well as topics of emotional adjustment, identity, and relationship dynamics. We will ground our time of sharing with mindfulness, gentle movement, and other self-care practices.
"Participating in the Mindful Mamas group was the most helpful thing I did during my maternity leave and while adjusting to the 'new normal' after our daughter was born."
Mindful Mama Support Circles are open to mothers with babies 0-6 months at the beginning of the session. We ask that you commit to attending all sessions if possible; feel free to speak to Katy if you have a circumstance that would make this difficult. Space in the circle is limited to ten mamas in order to build a deep, supportive community. The cost for the four-week session is $149 and the cost for the eight-week session is $295, due at the beginning of the first session. If you would like to join the us but are unable to afford the full session fee, please contact us at the info below to discuss scholarship options, possible due to the generous support of the Awesome Foundation DC.
Feeding, changing, and moving around with your baby are all welcome, and fussing, crying, or sleeping is expected (for babies, and maybe sometimes for mamas, too!). Once their circle has ended mamas often continue to meet for playdates with their little ones and to nurture ongoing friendships.
Call (202-436-1279) or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) with more questions. You deserve space for yourself to find support, connection, tools and grounding in this journey of motherhood. Please join us!
(Our summer sessions are currently full - please join us in the fall!)

Men’s Yoga Community (MYC) provides a venue for men to learn, practice and share yoga to support personal growth and well-being. Students are taught in an intimate setting with no more than 8 people, so more attention is given to each student. Men are encouraged to identify their specific needs and guided to use the breath through a series of poses aimed to build strength, flexibility and balance. Classes are all-levels and suitable for beginners and all ages, body types, and abilities - no matter how many years of practice. A short mediation concludes each class. Email questions: Brad@mensyogacommunity.org
MYC was born from the desire to provide men greater access to yoga and to create a forum for men to exchange, learn and practice yoga to support their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Understanding the unique needs of men and the current yoga market in the U.S., MYC aims to fill this gap by providing targeted yoga classes, resources and events that cater specifically to all who identify as men. MYC is driven by diversity - inclusive of age, ability, creed, sexual orientation and race - to ensure that the individual needs of all men are integrated into community offerings and teachings of self-care practices such as yoga and meditation. MYC is a community-based initiative that requires no dues or commitment, only a desire to learn about yoga and share with other men.
