Our COVID Precautions

The Well takes COVID-19 seriously.  Based on careful research and existing guidelines from government agencies and professional associations, we have made significant adaptations to our space and practice protocols. We'd like to ask your help, too, as we work to keep The Well as safe as possible for you and our staff.

Precautions we are taking:

  • Operating at reduced capacity with staggered appointment times

  • Sanitizing all surfaces between each client - like always!

  • Introducing HEPA air filters in treatment spaces, in addition to our commercial HVAC system with fresh air uptake

  • Fresh linens for each client - like always!

  • Requiring all staff wear masks and fresh clothing for each client

  • Requiring clients to wear masks and limit time in shared spaces

  • Screening staff and clients for symptoms and contacts

  • Reducing face-to-face time with on-line intakes and limiting conversations

  • Closing our reception area 

  • Using contact-less scheduling, payment, and tipping

What we’d like you to know:

  • We’re going contact-less where we can! We are asking all clients to prepay for your service on our website (via PayPal) or by purchasing a gift card or massage package. Please use your therapist’s Venmo account for gratuity.

  • Because our reception area will be closed, we ask you to wait outside until the time of your appointment.  You may call or text us at 202-436-1279 when you arrive and your therapist will call to let you know when they are ready for you.  Please be sure to put your mask on before you come in. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.

  • Upon entry and before your treatment, we’ll ask you to wash your hands.

  • If you are a first-time client, or have not been to The Well in more than a year, we will ask you to fill out a health intake form prior to your appointment and return it to us via email. Your therapist may call you in advance of your appointment to review your intake and make a plan for your session.

  • All clients will receive an informed consent form along with your appointment confirmation. Please complete this form in advance of your session.

  • We try our best to make The Well a warm and welcoming place, but have removed many of our “soft” ambient decor so that we can sanitize in accordance with CDC and DC Health guidelines.

  • We will no longer offer you water or tea during this time, so please consider bringing your own if you’d like.

  • We’ll be offering a reduced menu of services for the time being.

  • Because masks limit virus spread, we require both staff and clients to wear them from the time you enter to the time you leave.  If you are concerned about discomfort lying face-down, please let your therapist know - we are happy to work with you to find a solution - we are trained to address most conditions in a side-lying position or supine (face up) position.

  • Therapists wash their hands before and after all sessions, as always. If you prefer, therapists will wear gloves during the session if you let them know.

  • Therapists will reduce talking during treatments to minimize potential transmission.

  • If you experience any symptoms, please wait to schedule until you’ve been free of symptoms at least 14 days.  If you’ve already scheduled and you develop symptoms, please call us to cancel.  We will waive the cancellation fee.

  • The Well fully complies with DC Health regulations and guidelines, and will disclose staff or client personal information (i.e. telephone number, address and date(s) of service) if necessary for contact tracing.
